María Magdalena Batista was born in Mexico City. She studied a Bachelor’s in Linguistics and Hispanic Literature and a Master’s in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. She has published San Amador del Milagro (1994), Adiós Nonino y Violentango (1994) and Ese deseo y sed. Y noche oscura (2004). In 1996, Francisco Toledo nominated her for the Juan Rulfo Sixth Prize in Latin American Literature through the Institute of Graphic Arts in Oaxaca. In 1999, she was awarded a prize for artistic creation from the State Fund for Arts and Culture in Querétaro.
